BSI partners with Extended University to bring classes to Big Sky

One of BSI’s missions is to provide enriching, educational, and interesting programming to the public. Though living just 43 miles away from one of the country's top 100 universities, Big Sky residents have unique educational needs that are not directly served by Montana State University. The MSU & Big Sky Community Education Partnership will produce an unparalleled educational opportunity for Big Sky residents and businesses--one that is customized to serve the unique needs of this community.

The MSU & Big Sky Community Education Partnership is a two-phase, two-year program. The first phase of the program will include a comprehensive community needs assessment and development of a high-tech distance learning facility. The second phase of the program will be development and implementation of the community education program. Phase one will be completed in the first year, and phase two will begin as soon as possible thereafter.

Throughout the next year, BSI will be sending out surveys and hosting community forums with the goal of gaining as much input as possible from the community about what types of courses and programs they would like to see offered. Also, a distance learning facility is being constructed at the BSI office.
