Education & Outreach
Do you have interesting research to share? Are you interested in doing a hands-on science activity at Ophir School? Would you like to show community members just what field work is all about? You’ve found the right place! BSI hosts a wide variety of science education and outreach activities in and around Big Sky, and we are always on the look out for experts to share their knowledge and experience. If you would like to lead an activity, give a lecture, help out during a day or weeklong event, or have other ideas for place-based education and outreach, please get in touch with the BSI Big Sky office (406) 993-9355.
Examples of past activities include:
- Seasonal lecture series on science and nature in the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem
- Pairing K-12 students with a researcher for a class project
- Providing hands-on science activities at Ophir School
- Educational field trips for all ages that include science and adventure
- Weeklong science and nature summer camps for K-12 students
Research Opportunities
Is your research linked to the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem? If the answer is yes, BSI is often looking for researchers interested in collaboration and development of new projects. Please contact the BSI Bozeman office (406-994-2374).
For Community Members
Community members can get involved with BSI on many different fronts, from attending our lectures and activities to volunteering time to help with general education programs or fundraising. Contact the BSI Big Sky office (406-993-9355) for more information.
Current opportunity: We are currently seeking nature or science-minded community members to help provide short (30 minute) naturalist talks at the Big Sky Resort base area during the summer. A variety of topics are possible and BSI can provide information and training, or you may be able to discuss an area you are already familiar with.
